In Every Season
Emma Blocki plays the Wisnefski piano that made the voyage to America with her as she thinks back on the magnificent flowers and alfresco dining of her childhood home in Pomerania. Her son John is in his perfumery laboratory crafting his next perfume from oils distilled from these same flowers. John was inspired by nature like his mother but he was also fascinated by the wildly creative art and culture developing in America’s cities at the turn of the century.
Imagine a bouquet of bright bold colors inspired by the swirling lines of Art Nouveau, the daring of Paul Poiret’s harem pants, the liberating rhythm of Alexander’s Rag Time Band and the sweet warm air of a summer evening. This is the bouquet we had in mind for In Every Season.
The most retro-vintage of our first three perfumes: In Every Season is a complex multi-dimensional fragrance full of bright rich harmonizing natural florals, slight fruity nuances, and a woody warmth in the background. It is our homage to the original line of Blocki floral perfumes. We also drew inspiration from the vibrant florals of the 1910s such as Houbigant’s Quelques Fleurs, Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue, and Caron’s Narcisse Noir.
We took the long route to In Every Season meticulously building and blending each accord with natural florals the way perfume was made in John’s time. The foundation for the perfume is a classic perfumery base that was first created in the early 1900s. This base makes the orange top notes even more vibrant and gives definition to the rose, orange blossom, lilac, jasmine and mimosa notes in the heart.
Our favorite effect is the lingering intimate dry down created with a warm beautifully textured note that smells like autumn leaves, embers and ambergris. The vetiver, sandalwood, balsams and musk seem to shimmer on the skin after many hours.
